ST. LOUIS—DECOR Expo and DECOR, Art Business News and VOLUME magazines are proud to announce new ownership—and a fresh direction for the longstanding brands—under the newly formed Next Step Media.

Formerly owned by Summit Business Media under the company’s Art Division, the properties, along with Artexpo, were sold to Art Acquisitions, LLC, on July 31. In a second transaction that day, DECOR Expo and DECOR, Art Business News and VOLUME magazines were sold to Summit’s former Art Division Publisher Kim Feager, the co-founder of Next Step Media. Artexpo was sold to Redwood Media Group, a new company formed by Summit’s former Art Division Vice President Eric Smith, which will operate separately from Next Step Media.

Founded by a dedicated group of longtime art-and-framing professionals who have been associated with the brands for several years, Next Step Media will take the respected art-and-framing products to the next level with market-specific content, innovative programs and a fresh, hands-on approach to customer service.

“I’m thrilled to be taking on this exciting new endeavor with such a dedicated and experienced team of art-and-framing professionals, who not only have an inspiring passion and knowledge of our core products, but who also have a great love and dedication to the industry as a whole,” says Next Step Media Co-Founder and Publisher Kim Feager, who has been in the art-and-framing industry for the past 10 years. “Together, I know we can make an important contribution to this great industry.”

Members of the Next Step Media management team are as follows: Kim Feager, co-founder and publisher; Kim Klatt, DECOR Expo show director and sales representative; Kristin Stefek Brashares, managing editor of DECOR and Volume magazines; Jennifer Dulin Wiley, managing editor of Art Business News; and longtime sales representatives Melissa Louis, Mark Shapiro, Rita Popowicz and Renee Pinner.

Due to the timing of the transition, the decision was made to postpone DECOR Expo Atlanta and secure its long, established history as the premier art-and-framing show with an exciting reintroduction in 2010.

“Our mission is to breathe new life into the event and make it the best possible experience for exhibitors and attendees in 2010,” Show Director Kim Klatt, a 12-year industry veteran, says. “We will continue to keep exhibitors and buyers abreast of the exciting developments in store and will announce the new date in the coming months.”

Next Step Media’s premier publications, DECOR, Art Business News and VOLUME, will continue to distribute regularly scheduled issues filled with in-depth market coverage for art-and-framing professionals. And, the newly redesigned Web sites, www.decormagazine.com, www.artbusinessnews.com and www.volumeframingmagazine.com, will offer subscribers a 24-hour-a-day resource for the latest news and multimedia coverage.

More updates on the exciting progression of Next Step Media will be available shortly. In the meantime, the Next Step Media team would like to sincerely thank everyone in the art-and-framing industry for their continued support of DECOR Expo and DECOR, Art Business News and VOLUME magazines.
